CAPE GIRARDEAU — More than two dozen southeast Missouri residents are facing drug charges after a roundup involving federal, state and local law enforcement.

The Southeast Missourian reported that 27 people were arrested Tuesday, many on drug distribution charges. The suspects range in age from 19 to 66.

Cape Girardeau Police spokesman Darin Hickey said the arrests were the result of a yearlong investigation involving the SEMO Drug Task Force, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Marshal Service and several local departments.

Hickey says further arrests are expected.
