J. P. Perry, 71, of Columbia, MO, passed away peacefully at home January 11, 2013.
He was born on November 29, 1941 in Sikeston, MO to Jesse P. and Irene (Fortner) Perry.
On October 20, 1986, he married Becky Nelson in Miami, Oklahoma, and she survives.
J. P. was a member of Columbia Elks Lodge #594, Ancient Landmark Lodge #357 of Harrisburg, MO, Masonic Acacia Lodge of Columbia, Aleppo Grotto, the Tiger Shriner Club, the Tiger Motor Patrol and Grace Fellowship Church.
He enjoyed yard work and fishing with his wife. He was the owner of J. P. Perry Wrecker Service from 1981 to 1997, and later worked for Doug Perry Towing Service, retiring in 2013.
In addition to his loving wife, Becky, J. P. is survived by his children: Laura Scott (Robbie) of Rocheport, MO, Doug Perry (Annie), Keith Perry (Stephanie), John Perry (Tonya) and Jessie Perry, all of Columbia; his siblings: Betty Moss of Columbia, Robert Perry (Donna) of St. Clair, MO, Dottie Manns (Jerry) of Ashland, Ruth Anderson (Curt) of Columbia, Katie Kingery (Ron) of Eldon, MO, Lena Dunn of Columbia, and Joy Whitner (Mike) of Eldon, MO; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends, including Hazel Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Donna Hardin.
There will be a visitation from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm with a Masonic service at 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services will be performed by J.P.’s dear friend Rev. Gary Wrisberg.
