Donald J. Belcher enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family

COLUMBIA — Donald J. Belcher of Rocheportdied Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. He was 82.

Mr. Belcher was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Columbia to John and Wilmoth Hunt Belcher. He married Anita Schlitt in October 1959.

Mr. Belcher graduated from Hickman High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War, earning several medals and awards, including the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, ROK Presidential Unit Citation and United Nations Service Medal.

Mr. Belcher worked as a maintenance inspector of engineering for 20 years at the U.S. Veteran's Administration.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish and the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Belcher is survived by his wife, Anita Barbara (Schlitt) Belcher; his children, Rick Belcher and his wife, Marry, Pam McMahan and her husband, Mike, Tammy Wulff and her husband, Mike, and Kevin Belcher and his wife, Terri; and six grandchildren, Justin Belcher, Adam Wulff, Drew Wulff, Ryan McMahan, Ian Wulff and Rebecca McMahan.

His brother and sister died earlier.

The Rosary will be held at 6 to 6:20 p.m., and visitation will follow from 6:20 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, 903 Bernadette Drive. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with a one hour visitation prior at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish. Burial will follow at the Garden of Resurrection at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.

Memorial masses or contributions to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 903 Bernadette Drive Columbia, MO 65203, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, are suggested in lieu of flowers.
