COLUMBIA — From the Associated Press basketball poll

This week: No. 17 Last week: No. 10

Missouri (12-3, 1-1 SEC) won its inaugural game in the Southeastern Conference 84-68 against Alabama on Tuesday, but lost 64-49 on Saturday on the road to unranked Mississippi. Team captain and leading scorer Laurence Bowers sprained his right MCL against the Crimson Tide and was unable to play against the Rebels. He is expected to miss at least two more games. Missouri struggled against Ole Miss, shooting 36.8 percent in the game.

Missouri is no longer the highest ranked team in the SEC with Florida jumping up to No. 10. This week, every undefeated team in the Top 25 lost. Duke (last week No. 1) lost to North Carolina State, Michigan (last week No. 2) lost to Ohio State, and Arizona (last week No. 4) lost to Oregon. Louisville is now the new No. 1, with Indiana right behind at No. 2. Not one team from last week’s Top 25 is ranked the same.

The week ahead: Missouri looks to bounce back from its frustrating loss in its game against Georgia (6-9, 0-2 in SEC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at home, once again without Bowers. The Bulldogs are led by sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who leads the team in scoring (16.9 points per game) and rebounding (6.7 rebounds per game). The Tigers will then travel to play No. 10-ranked Florida (12-2, 2-0 in SEC) in a game set for 1 p.m. Saturday. The Gators are led by senior guards Kenny Boynton (13.8 points per game) and Mike Rosario (12.3 points per game).
