8 vehicles in I-270 wreck in St. Louis County

CREVE COEUR — An investigation continues following an accident in St. Louis County involving eight vehicles.

The apparent chain-reaction wreck happened about 8 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 270 near the Olive Boulevard exit in Creve Coeur. Several people were hurt but the extent of the injuries was not immediately known.

The wreck was cleared about 9:20 a.m. Traffic was backed up for several miles.

The cause of the initial accident remains under investigation.
