Columbia College women's basketball keeps AMC mark perfect

COLUMBIA – The Columbia College women's basketball team beat visiting Missouri Baptist 92-75 on Thursday to bring its American Midwest Conference record to 6-0.

The Cougars improved to 13-5 overall with the win, their ninth straight dating back to Dec 18.

A Tierney Seifert 3-pointer sparked a 14-2 Cougars run midway through the first half that gave them a 43-35 halftime advantage. They extended their lead with a 10-2 run to begin the second half.

Seifert connected on six of seven attempts from 3-point range to finish with a career-high 24 points. Sophomore Kayla Washington also set a new career-high with 15 points. Julie Teeple and Aqua Corpening added 12 points apiece with Teeple pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.

First place in the AMC will be on the line when Columbia College plays No. 15-ranked Lyon College at 2 p.m. Saturday in Batesville, Ark. Both teams sit atop the league standings at 6-0.
