This article is a part of ArtTalk, a Missourian project inviting people from the arts community to tell us what’s cooking around town. To submit something you're excited about and open the eyes of the community to local art, fill out the form at the bottom of this story. Find past submissions here.

Here's the latest in the series, from Jennifer Perlow, pictured below.

Q: What's your connection to Columbia's art scene?

A: I own PS:Gallery. I am the president of the Museum of Art and Archaeology Museum Associates board and on the board of the North Village Arts District.

Q: What artistic project or product are you excited about?

A: The Columbia Art League's latest exhibit, "Beauty and the Beholder."

Q: Why are you excited, and why might other people be interested?

A: This is the first new exhibit for the year at the Art League. I think the "Beauty and the Beholder" show highlights a wide range of work. There are some amazing pieces from young emerging artists as well as a strong representation from the more veteran artists of our community. You can see subtle interpretations of beauty juxtaposed with bright colors and bold statements. A plethora of mediums are used in the exhibit, from photography, glass, fiber, wood, painting and pastels.

Q: Is there an event attached to the project?

A: The show runs through Feb. 23.

Q: Who are the people behind the product/project?

A: Diana Moxon is the director of the Columbia Art League. She does a great job of always coming up with creative topics for the arts community to explore.  She has really grown the art league membership as well as the crowds who come to appreciate the works shown.  It think it is important to have a membership organization where individuals can submit pieces one or two at a time and be eligible for prizes and recognition for their hard work.  Kudos to Diana and CAL for supporting the local arts community.
