Rogers Hugh Thomson, 79, was a board member of homeless veterans program

COLUMBIA — Rogers Hugh Thomson of Columbia died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. He was 79.

Mr. Thomson was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Fairfax, to James and Eleanor Dills Thomson. He served with the U.S. Army and was a board member of Welcome Home Inc., a nonprofit program that assists homeless veterans.

Mr. Thomson is survived by a daughter, Sue Thomson and her husband, Harry Christianson, of Columbia; a son, James Thomson of Jefferson City; and three grandchildren.

Services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, 1479 County Road 1675, Jacksonville. Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1610 N. Garth Ave.
