COLUMBIA — Columbia Transit’s 107 FastCAT will provide unlimited free bus rides Tuesday through Sunday.

“We want students and residents to know that FastCAT is a safe and easy way to get around campus and downtown,” City Manager Mike Matthes said in a news release. “It’s the start of a new year and a new semester. It’s the perfect time to try out something new. So, we are inviting everyone to try FastCAT for free.”

The route starts at 6:30 a.m. on weekdays. It runs until 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Sunday service runs noon to 10 p.m. FastCAT buses run every 15 minutes and can be tracked on the FastCAT website or mobile application.

Riders will also be offered a chance to win a semester of free rides on any Columbia Transit route. To enter, riders must “like” the Columbia Transit Facebook page and repost the transit fact of the day posted in each of the FastCAT buses during free week.

Supervising editor is Emilie Stigliani.
