COLUMBIA — Former Missouri basketball coach Norm Stewart will be named one of 14 Southeastern Conference Basketball Legends during the 2013 SEC men's basketball tournament.
Stewart is known as Missouri's winningest coach, winning 634 games and 14 Big Eight titles from 1967-99. Stewart coached 38 seasons during his career and spent six of them at Northern Iowa. Stewart's 731 career wins places him at No. 22 in all-time wins in the NCAA.
The 2013 class also includes Wimp Sanderson, Alabama; Jerry Carlton, Arkansas; Ronnie Battle, Auburn; Bill Koss, Florida; Tim Bassett, Georgia; Jamal Mashburn, Kentucky; Geert Hammink, LSU; Rahim Lockhart, Ole Miss; Horatio Webster, Mississippi State; Eddie Fogler, South Carolina; Len Kosmalski, Tennessee; John Beasley, Texas A&M; Mike Rhodes, Vanderbilt.
The tournament will be held March 13-17 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Stewart will be recognized during Missouri's first game in the SEC tournament.
