Bridge demolition in St. Louis delayed

ST. LOUIS — Bridge demolition work originally scheduled for this weekend in St. Louis has been delayed because of a weather forecast that calls for the possibility of precipitation on Sunday.

Missouri Department of Transportation crews originally planned to close Interstate 64 between Kingshighway and Forest Park Parkway in both directions starting Friday night. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that plans now call for the work to occur Feb. 1 through Feb. 4.

The shutdown is necessary because MoDOT is removing two bridges over the interstate, at Taylor and Newstead avenues. Plans call for both bridges to be rebuilt.
