Jill Johnson found pleasure in family, volunteering

COLUMBIA — Jill Johnson enjoyed spending time with her family and animals.

Ms. Johnson of Columbia died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. She was 37.

Throughout her 10-year battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma, Ms. Johnson was involved with patient advocacy and counseling. She was also involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program. 

Ms. Johnson was born Aug. 28, 1975, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Thomas and Sylvia Johnson.

Before moving to Columbia in 2009 to be closer to her parents, Ms. Johnson worked as a licensed clinical social worker counseling children in Boise, Idaho.

Ms. Johnson is survived by her parents, Thomas and Sylvia Johnson of Rocheport; her brother, Harley Johnson and his wife, Amy, of Urbana, Ill.; her paternal grandparents, Bill and Thelma Johnson of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her maternal grandparents, Stephen and Katherine Hnenny, died earlier.

A memorial service will be held in Saskatchewan.
