COLUMBIA – Despite taking a 31-23 lead into halftime, the Stephens College basketball team slipped up in the second half and eventually fell to Park University, 63-53.

The Stars (4-14) bested Park University in rebounding, field goal and three point percentage, but took 11 fewer shots than the Pirates and had 10 more turnovers.

Stephens College was also unable to contain Park University senior guard Brianna Beridon, who scored 34 points, more than half of her team's total. Senior guard Jessica McConnell led the Stars with 10 points.

Stephens College's next game is against Lyon College at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Silverthorne Arena in Columbia.
