COLUMBIA — There were no injuries in the Thursday evening fire at the Trapp Law Firm at 609 Walnut St.

Assistant Fire Marshal Brian Davison estimated the fire caused $100,000 of damage, according to a Columbia Fire Department news release. Davison is investigating the cause of the fire, which occurred in the attic of the law firm.

An assistant prosecutor at the Boone County Courthouse called 911 at 7:57 p.m. after noticing heavy smoke coming from the building, according to the release. Fire crews arrived at 8 p.m. and contained the fire by 8:40 p.m.

The crews determined that the fire started in the attic and had not spread to other areas of the building. There was no one in the building at the time of the fire.

Supervising editor is Richard Webner.
