The Rock Bridge girls basketball team dominated Hazelwood Central 58-28 on Tuesday in the opening round of the Webster Winter Challenge in Webster Groves.

The third-ranked Bruins (15-4) jumped out to an early advantage and held a 16-point lead at halftime. Rock Bridge controlled the pace throughout the game and forced Hazelwood Central (10-5) into numerous turnovers, setting up a number of easy transition opportunities.

Sophomore point guard and Missouri verbal commit Sophie Cunningham led the way for the Bruins with 25 points. Audrey Holt added another nine points while sophomore Cierra Porter chipped in with eight.

Rock Bridge won the event last season en route to the Class 5 state title. The Bruins move on to play the winner of an opening round game between St. Joseph’s Academy and Fort Zumwalt West on Friday night.
