LETTER TO THE EDITOR: City elections are critical

Wednesday, January 30, 2013 | 3:54 p.m. CST

Helen Anthony is gone; who is next?

How sad it is that Helen Anthony has left. We now have three members of the City Council who can block reasonable, citizen-driven initiatives. We have three members of the council who represent the interest of the Chamber of Commerce and big developers.

The next election is more critical than ever. If the citizens of the Fifth Ward (and Third and Fourth wards, for that matter) want someone who represents the interest of all the residents of the city of Columbia and not just big developers, they need to think about whom that might be. In my mind, those candidates are Tootie Burns, Karl Skala and Ian Thomas.

Jack Clark is a Columbia resident.
