Jessie M. Buckler, July 9, 1924 — Feb. 2, 2013, of Columbia

COLUMBIA — Jessie M. Buckler of Columbia died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Ashland Villa Assisted Living. She was 88.

She was born July 9, 1924, in St. Stevens New Brunswick, Canada, to Harry E. and Georgia (Pendleton) Watts. They raised her in Portland, Maine.

She married Wilbur H. Buckler on March 20, 1944, and spent the next 21 years as a Navy wife, traveling from coast to coast. The couple spent their retirement years in Columbia.

Ms. Buckler is survived by a daughter, Dianne Reed and her husband, Jerry, of Columbia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, David, and her sister, Louise Orne.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Red Top Cemetery in Hallsville.
