COLUMBIA — Police arrested three suspects in connection with an armed robbery early Wednesday morning.

Samuel Haley, Lashanda Marine and Whitney McKee were arrested at 2939 Leeway Drive around 3:30 a.m. after police spent several hours trying to get the suspects to come out of the residence.

According to a Columbia Police Department news release, officers were dispatched to the Econo Lodge Motel at 900 1-70 Drive S.W. in connection to a disturbance around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The two men who called the police said they arranged to meet two women at the motel for prostitution services, the release said.

As the women prepared to leave, the victims said Haley entered the room with a handgun. They said all three suspects took part in robbing them of money and property, including a laptop computer, Columbia Police Sergeant Joe Bernhard said.

A vehicle matching the suspects' car description was later found by an officer at the residence on Leeway Drive where the suspects were arrested.
