COLUMBIA — Missouri wrestler Todd Porter was named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 31, the conference announced Wednesday.

Porter defeated Oklahoma State’s Chris Perry, who came into the meet ranked No. 1 in the 174-pound weight class, by major decision last Friday during the annual Beauty and the Beast meet. Porter accumulated two takedowns, a two-point nearfall and an escape, and forced Perry to stall twice for an extra point.

The following night, Porter defeated Matt Reed of Oklahoma, again by major decision. Porter tacked on four more take downs to give him a team-leading 43 take downs in dual meet matches this year.

In his first year as a starter, Porter is now 13-0 in dual meets this year and ranked No. 13 in the 174 pound weight class. He is 73-31 in his four-year career as a Tiger.
