Jefferson City man accused of child abuse arrested in Columbia

COLUMBIA — A Jefferson City man accused of child abuse was arrested Monday night in Columbia.

Devin Xavier Benke, 26, was arrested on felony warrants for probation violation and  child abuse, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said. He was accused of abusing a 4-year-old child on Wednesday, Stroer said.

Benke was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Monday night at 6 Clinkscales Road by Columbia police, Stroer said. He was being held at the Boone County Jail, with his bail set at $75,000.
