Fran lived in Japan until she was 18 years old and attended The American School in Japan.  She graduated from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.  After college, she taught school for 3 years in Aurora, Illinois.  Fran was a loving wife and mother.  She loved to read; her interests extended widely, particularly to the writings of Mark Twain and Lewis and Clark.  Civic-minded, she volunteered for the Service League at University Hospital and was an active member of the Women’s Symphony League and Fortnightly Club.  For years, she prepared meals for Loaves and Fishes.  Weekly for twenty five years, she taught conversational English to Japanese wives of visiting professors. She and Buck enjoyed travelling and making friends around the world.  When in Columbia, they faithfully attended concerts, plays, exhibits and lectures.

The Rikli Family would like to thank the Surgical Intensive Care Unit staff at University Hospital and Dr. Elizabeth Garrett for their expert care.

A memorial service will be held at Community United Methodist on Saturday, February 23 at 11:00 am.  A reception will follow at the church.  Those wishing may remember Fran with a donation to the Missouri Symphony Society, PO Box 841, Columbia, Missouri, 65205, the Columbia Public Library, 100 W.
