New around town: Missourian suggestion boxes

Thursday, February 21, 2013 | 6:00 a.m. CST; updated 2:50 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, July 30, 2013
Story Idea Drop Boxes like these have been placed in a variety of locations in Columbia.

At the Columbia Missourian, the search for new stories is always on.

Often, our story ideas come from talks with community members, our observations about things going on around town, and email and phone tips from readers and sources. We're also looking for new ways to collect ideas that are easy for readers to participate in.

While you're going about your day-to-day business, you might notice Missourian suggestion boxes in a variety of Columbia locales. They'll have slips of paper inviting you to share the news from your world. We'll drive around town checking them and deliver the ideas back to our editors and reporters.

You can also submit story ideas by emailing, calling 882-5720 or stopping by the newsroom, on the third floor of Lee Hills Hall at Eighth and Elm streets in Columbia.
