Columbia College women's basketball holds steady at No. 15 in NAIA rankings
Tuesday, February 19, 2013 | 8:12 p.m. CST
The Columbia College women's basketball team remained at No. 15 in the NAIA rankings released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cougars notched two wins early last week, but their 18-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday after a four-point loss in overtime to American Midwest Conference foe Lyon (Ark.) College. With Saturday's win, Lyon tied Columbia College for the top spot in the AMC standings.
Lily Abreu led the Cougars (22-6, 15-1 AMC) in scoring with 16.7 points in last week's three games, including a career-high 34 points against Missouri Baptist University on Thursday.
Abreu and fellow seniors Julie Teeple and Kaitlin Allphin will be honored as a part of Senior Night festivities prior to tomorrow night's home game against Harris-Stowe State University. The 5:30 p.m. game was rescheduled from Thursday night due to potential inclement weather that's expected to arrive on Thursday morning.
