Missouri softball improved to 7-0 overall Thursday at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Palm Springs, Calif.
A nine-run second inning powered by the second career grand slam from sophomore Kelsea Roth helped get the Tigers past Maryland, 13-1, in five innings.
Nine strikeouts, including three in the seventh inning, by sophomore Bailey Erwin and a two-run ground-rule double by senior catcher Jenna Marston in the fifth inning proved to be the difference in Missouri’s 2-1 win over San Diego State.
The Tigers face No. 5 Florida at 2:30 p.m. Friday to finish the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Missouri then heads to Cal State Fullerton on Saturday for a doubleheader with games at 4 and 6 p.m.
