Despite heavy snow, students fill Campus Bar & Grill Thursday night

Friday, February 22, 2013 | 10:17 a.m. CST
After a heavy snowfall Thursday, students took advantage the snow day to gather at Campus Bar & Grill at Ninth and Elm streets.

COLUMBIA — Not even 11 inches of snow could deter students from taking advantage of the social scene in downtown Columbia.

After Thursday's winter storm left cars stranded on main roads and businesses across town shutting their doors early, Campus Bar & Grill opened and was filled with students making the best of a snowy night.

MU officially closed campus because of poor road conditions Thursday at about noon, and a second snow day was announced for Friday at about 9:45 Thursday night.
