Man stabbed at Days Inn motel

COLUMBIA — A 31-year-old man was stabbed early Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Days Inn motel.

Officers were dispatched at 1:45 a.m. after receiving a call about a fight involving a knife in the motel's parking lot at 1900 I-70 Drive Southwest. After searching a motel room, officers recovered the knife used in the assault.

The victim was stabbed several times and has been transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Zackery Simmons, 21, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and armed criminal action. His bond is yet to be determined.
