Brett Graves' performance masked by late-inning struggles as Memphis beats Missouri

Saturday, February 23, 2013 | 10:22 p.m. CST

MEMPHIS – Despite leading for most of the game, the Missouri baseball team gave up four late-inning runs to Memphis and lost its fifth straight game, 5-3.

Missouri (0-5) took a 3-1 lead into the seventh inning, but Brett Graves' strong starting pitching performance went to waste when Memphis used two hits and an error to put up three runs to take the lead. Memphis extended the lead to 5-3 in the eighth inning.

Catcher Dylan Kelly had two hits for Missouri and third baseman Keaton Steele recorded an RBI.

The Tigers play Memphis again Sunday in the final game before their home opener, scheduled March 1 against Northwestern.
