COLUMBIA — Virginia McGrath enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
“That was her main hobby,” her son, John McGrath, said. “She always had flowers in the yard.”
Virginia McGrath of Columbia died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013. She was 80.
She was born May 20, 1932, in Greenville to F.W. and Retha Carlton.
She graduated from University Laboratory High School.
Mrs. McGrath is survived by her husband, Clifford McGrath; two sons, Patrick McGrath and his wife, Cheryl, of Newburg, and John McGrath and his wife, Glenda, of Ellisville; a daughter, Cathleen McGrath of Ballwin; two sisters, Kate Shaughnessy and Margaret Misiak; a brother, U.W. “Dub” Carlton; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Casey, Kyle, Tracy, and Kaitlin McGrath.
A son, Timothy McGrath, died earlier.
Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the same location. A private family burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army, 1108 W. Ash St., Columbia, MO 65203, and Phelps County Regional Home Health/Hospice, 575A Blue Lake Parkway, Rolla, MO 65401.
