COLUMBIA — Warning sirens will wail all across Boone County at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday as a part of an annual statewide tornado drill.

Columbia/Boone County Public Safety Joint Communications will activate the county's 80 outdoor sirens in conjunction with "Severe Weather Awareness Week."

The drill will give Boone County residents a chance to examine disaster plans they have implemented at home, work and school. It should also remind residents of the important role that the sirens play in the early warning process.

In the case of threatening weather on Tuesday, the drill will be postponed to Thursday at the same time.

Supervising editor is Emilie Stigliani.
