For the first time in over a month, Missouri (21-8, 10-6 in Southeastern Conference) won both of its games in the past week, beating South Carolina 90-68 Thursday on the road, and LSU 89-76 at home on Saturday. Keion Bell led the Tigers in scoring against the Gamecocks with 24 points, while Jabari Brown was right behind with 23. Missouri dominated in the paint against LSU, with Laurence Bowers (23 points, 10 rebounds) and Alex Oriakhi (18 points, 10 rebounds) both scoring double-doubles.
Florida (No. 11) remains as the only ranked team in the SEC, but it dropped three spots after losing to Tennessee. Saint Louis University moved up two spots to No. 16. For the first time this year, Gonzaga (29-2) is ranked No. 1 in the country. Indiana (No. 2) lost the top spot by losing to Minnesota, while Duke (No. 3), Kansas (No. 4) and Georgetown (No. 5) round out the top five.
This week ahead: On Tuesday, Missouri will host former Missouri head coach Mike Anderson and Arkansas (18-11, 9-7 in SEC) for the Tigers' final home game of the season. Missouri lost a heart-breaker to the Razorbacks last month on the road, falling 73-71. Junior forward Marshawn Powell led the team with 24 points, while sophomore guard B.J. Young added 18. The Tigers shot only 39.7 percent and had 17 turnovers in the game.
On Saturday, Missouri will travel to face Tennessee (17-11, 9-7 in SEC) for the final game of the regular season. The Volunteers are led by junior guard Jordan McRae (16.0 points per game) and sophomore forward Jarnell Stokes (12.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game).
