Missouri baseball cancels series finale due to rain

Sunday, March 10, 2013 | 3:12 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The Missouri baseball team canceled the third and final game of its weekend series against San Francisco due to rain.

The Tigers won Friday's series opener 6-2 behind a strong outing from pitcher Rob Zastryzny. The Dons struck back Saturday, capitalizing on a slew of Tiger errors with a five-run ninth inning, on their way to an 8-3 victory.

Sunday's cancellation was Missouri's fourth due to weather this season. The Tigers were forced to cancel a three-game series beginning March 1 against Northwestern due to heavy snow in Columbia. Missouri also postponed a game Tuesday against Eastern Michigan due to cold temperatures, and played a doubleheader Wednesday as a result.

The Tigers are next scheduled to take the field Tuesday at Taylor Stadium against Jackson State, and begin conference play with a three-game series beginning Friday against No. 6 South Carolina.
