This week saw a roller coaster of wins and losses. The Missouri men's basketball team sealed an undefeated home season but lost yet another road game. Both the Columbia College men's and women's basketball teams secured American Midwest Conference tournament titles.
Missouri basketball continues ups and downs
The Tigers secured a 17-0 record at home this season with a 93-63 victory over the Razorbacks on Tuesday. Senior Laurence Bowers led Missouri with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Bowers called his senior night a “success" and gave a shout out to former teammate Michael Dixon Jr.
Missouri followed its commanding victory with a tough road game loss to Tennessee on Saturday. The 64-62 loss was the ninth loss of the season and seventh against an Southeastern Conference team.
The Tigers are seeded sixth in the SEC tournament and will play the winner of Auburn and Texas A&M at 9 p.m. Thursday in Nashville, Tenn.
Columbia College basketball sweeps AMC
The Cougar women won the American Midwest Conference tournament championship Monday night with a 91-83 win over William Woods. Next up, they will compete in the NAIA National Tournament on Wednesday in Frankfort, Ky.
The Columbia College men were not to be outdone by the women. The Cougars defeated Park University 77-63 on Tuesday to win their second consecutive AMC tournament championship. The undefeated Cougars are sitting comfortably at No. 1 and will play Oklahoma City in the NAIA National Tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Kansas City.
Missouri baseball team wins home opener
The Tigers got their first win Wednesday after starting the season winless at 0-6. They beat Eastern Michigan in a double header, 1-0 and 7-1, but failed to maintain momentum and suffered a road game loss to San Francisco University 9-3 on Saturday.
Missouri girls basketball lose in SEC tournament
With most of the blame on turnovers, the Missouri women’s basketball team was pushed out of the SEC tournament Thursday with a 53-40 loss to Vanderbilt. The Tigers (17-14) will now wait to see if they will qualify for the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
