Dana Rowena Karnes Miller, Aug. 8, 1952 — March 9, 2013, of Columbia

Dana Rowena Karnes Miller, 60, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, after a long illness. A resident of Columbia, she died at Lexington Square Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Keokuk, Iowa.

Services will be held at 11 am Friday, March 15, 2013 at Parker Funeral Service in Columbia. Visitation will follow the service before burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dana was born August 8, 1952 in Lexington, MO. Her parents are Elaine T. Grev and James B. Karnes, both of Columbia. 

A graduate of Hickman High School, Dana married Raymond Edward Miller and had a son, Russell Lee Miller, both currently of Sioux Falls, SD. 

Her interests included love of singing as a soprano in Double Sextet at Columbia College where she received her Associate of Arts degree. She worked at AB Chance in Centralia and at Orkin, Inc. in Columbia. Dana loved oil painting and showing Rottweilers and training her service dogs after her injuries in 1985. She was helped significantly by Rusk Rehabilitation Center.

Dana is survived by her parents, Dennis and Elaine Grev and James and Sandra Karnes; her son, Russell Lee Miller; two grandchildren, Ethan and Asher; half-brother, Eric John Grev of Ramona, CA; aunt Rowena Taliafero of Arlington, TX and step-siblings.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bryant Scott Karnes.
