FROM READERS: Shakespeare's fundraiser will support teen leaders

Jillian Dos Santos is a 10th grader at Rock Bridge high school and the founder of Students' Say.

Students' Say is an organization created by Columbia high school students who advocate for student input in districtwide decisions.

We were invited to Student Voice Live in New York City on April 13, which is a conference that's all about current issues in our education system and how students can get involved. Attendees will also learn about ways to help their community and get out the students' say.

This is a great opportunity for us because we would be able to learn so much from the experience and bring it all back to help Columbia. We'll also likely be the only group there from outside the East Coast, so we'd represent the Midwest!

This Thursday, Shakespeare's is holding a 15% Back At Ya to help us fundraise for the event in New York. Students' Say gets 15% of the profits from pizza sales of anyone who brings in a Students' Say Shakespeare's flier (available online on our twitter account @Students_Say_), so come help us out at Shakespeare's on Thursday! Not only would you be helping the community, you would also get some great pizza.

We are also in need of additional fundraisers or donations to raise the approximate $2,400 to send one Rock Bridge, Hickman and Battle student and a sponsor to Student Voice Live. If any local businesses or organizations are interested in helping us out, please don't hesitate to contact me at As always, our goal is to make a difference — thanks for helping us get there!
