Almeta Crayton to host Easter party, seeks donations

Sunday, March 17, 2013 | 6:00 a.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Former First Ward Councilwoman Almeta Crayton is looking for eggs, candy and green Easter grass to fill baskets for children in Columbia this year.

Crayton plans to hold an informal get-together for children ages 3 to 10, where they will dye eggs and receive baskets for an Easter hunt.

"You have a problem with these kids because no one does anything with them," Crayton said.

She is known for Everybody Eats, a dinner she puts together every year for Thanksgiving.

A date hasn't been set for the Easter party, but it will take place before the holiday, which is March 31 this year.

She said people are free to drop off any items or donations to her home at 409 Oak St., Columbia, Mo., 65203. On Saturdays, donors are asked to wait until after noon.
