COLUMBIA — Two separate armed robberies occurred Monday night at convenience stores on West Ash Street and Paris Road.

At 10:33 p.m. Columbia police were dispatched to the Petro Mart, located at 2200 W. Ash St., according to a Columbia Police Department news release. Witnesses reported that a suspect wearing a ski mask entered the store armed with a handgun. He fled the scene on foot.

Half an hour later, the police responded to another report of armed robbery at Midwest Petroleum, located at 2712 Paris Road, according to the release.  At this location, witnesses reported that two males wearing ski masks and armed with handguns entered the store and demanded money from the cashier. The suspects then fled the scene on foot toward Mexico Gravel Road.

There were customers inside both businesses at the time of the robberies, but no one was injured, according to the release. The amount of money taken at both locations was undisclosed.

There is no information linking the robberies, according to the release. The investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information about these incidents should contact the Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 875-8477.
