Tolton defeats Columbia Independent in first match of season

Father Tolton Catholic tennis defeated Columbia Independent School 6-3 in a team duel Tuesday.

Tolton won four of the six singles matches Tuesday. Columbia Independent's Vaughn Mueller won one the first of his* team's matches by defeating Tolton's Joe Fulca 8-1. Theron Howe was Columbia Independent's other winner by beating Tolton's Peter Robe 9-7 to put Columbia Independent up 2-0 in the team score. 

Tolton went on to win the next four singles matches. Morgan Vogt defeated Osaid Khan 8-0, Emily Schachtner defeated Elise McCosh 8-0, Caroline Parker defeated Taylor Burghardt 8-0 and Sarah Jolley defeated Tiana Williams 8-1 to end singles play.

In doubles play, Tolton's Vogt and Schachtner defeated Khan and Williams 8-1. Howe and Mueller defeated Fulca and Robe 8-4. Then, Parker and Jolley defeated Burghardt and McCosh 8-1.

Tolton improved to 1-0 on the season. Columbia Independent School dropped to 0-1.
