Edward “Ray” Vaughan, 69, of Harrisburg, passed away March 20, 2013 at University Hospital.
He was born August 24, 1943 in McBaine, MO to Robert and Margaret Vaughan who preceded him in death.
Ray worked many years for Smith Tree Service and retired from Columbia Public Schools after twenty years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors and had a passion for fishing, mushroom hunting and playing golf. Most recently he enjoyed and was very proud of his collectible tractors.
Ray is survived by a long time companion, Rita Proctor; three sons, David (Edith) Vaughan, Sr. of Hallsville, Robert (Mary) Vaughan, Daniel (Allison) Vaughan and their mother Rachel Bischoff all of Jefferson City; four siblings, Gene Vaughan, Mae Bright, Opal Acton, and Patsy Crawford; six grandchildren, Mindie (Jason) Roush, Derrick (Jenna) Vaughan, Danielle Vaughan, Erica Vaughan (Seth), David Vaughan, Jr., and Madison Vaughan; three great-grandchildren and his cherished cat Miss Kitty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Janie Schweikert Vaughan and two sisters Fay McMahan (his twin) and Katherine Sapp.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am Saturday, March 23 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm, Friday, March 22 also at Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Ray may be made to his family, and mailed to Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia, Missouri
