Edward "Ray" Vaughan, Aug. 24, 1943 — March 20, 2013, of Harrisburg

COLUMBIA — Edward "Ray" Vaughan of Harrisburg died Wednesday, March 20, 2013. He was 69.

He was born Aug. 24, 1943, in McBaine to Robert and Margaret Vaughan.

Mr. Vaughan taught for 20 years at Columbia Public Schools. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and playing golf. 

Mr. Vaughan is survived by his companion Rita Proctor; three sons, David Vaughan Sr. of Hallsville, Robert Vaughan, Daniel Vaughan, and their mother Rachael Biscoff all of Jefferson City; four siblings, Gene Vaughan, Mae Bring, Opal Acton, and Patsy Crawford; six grandchildren, Mindie Roush, Derrick Vaughan, Danielle Vaughan, Erica Vaughan, David Vaughan Jr., and Madison Vaughan; three great-grandchildren, and his cat Miss Kitty.

His second wife, Janie Schweikert Vaughan, and his sisters Fay McMahan and Katherine Sapp died earlier.

Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his family through Memorial Funeral Home.
