COLUMBIA — The Missouri baseball team lost its series opener against Tennessee 4-0 on Friday in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Tigers fell behind early, with pitcher Rob Zastryzny giving up three runs in the first inning. After that, Zastryzny (1-4) only allowed two hits and no more runs in a 6.2-inning outing. But despite drawing five walks, Missouri’s offense struggled to generate any offense throughout the game. The Tigers had five hits and left eight runners on base.

Senior Dane Opel led the Tigers (7-11, 1-3 Southeastern Conference) with two hits. Juniors Dylan Kelly and Shane Segovia as well as freshman Josh Lester contributed one hit apiece.

The series will continue with a doubleheader at noon Saturday.
