LETTER TO THE EDITOR: McDavid confronts city's difficult challenges

Wednesday, March 27, 2013 | 6:00 a.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — We respectfully urge support for Mayor Bob McDavid for re-election. Columbia is very fortunate to have Bob for mayor.

Before becoming mayor, Bob's talent, courage and ethics were clearly demonstrated by his outstanding service as past chair of the Boone Hospital Trustees when he successfully led the opposition to a lease agreement that would have cost Boone Countians millions of lost dollars.

While mayor, he has fearlessly and without hesitation confronted the huge difficult issues facing the city among which are the huge pension deficit and the airport. His diligence and ability are equal to any complex challenge facing the city. We hope all support him with votes and the appreciation he and his family richly deserve for their service.

Scott and Cheryl Orr are Columbia residents.
