Missouri tennis loses to No. 7 Alabama

Alabama defeated Missouri tennis 4-0 on Friday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. 

Alabama (17-2, 9-1 SEC) entered the match ranked No. 7 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association women's team rankings. This was the fourth time the Tigers have faced a team ranked No. 7 or better this season. The fourth time was not a charm.

The Crimson Tide won doubles to open the day. No. 6 Alex Guarachi and Mary Anne Macfarlane beat Missouri's Cierra Gaytan-Leach and Alex Clark 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Alabama's Antonia Foehse and Maya Jansen secured the doubles point with a 8-6 victory over Maria Christensen and Rachel Stuhlmann.

Alabama took at 2-0 lead when Natalia Maynetto defeated Madison Rhyner at No. 6 singles. Macfarlane beat Gaytan-Leach 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Guarachi defeated Stuhlmann 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to clinch the victory. 

The Tigers (9-9, 2-8) will play their fourth and final match at their temporary home court in St. Louis against No. 23 Auburn (15-6, 5-5) at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
