Rock Bridge boys tennis defeats Lafayette, Parkway Central

COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge boys tennis team beat Lafayette and Parkway Central to extend their home win streak to 81 matches on Saturday at Cosmo-Bethel Park.

In the morning the Bruins defeated Lafayette 7-2.

Alex Jones, Billy Swift, Raymond Majors and Jacob Winton won their singles matches in straight sets. Alex Wasden responded from losing the first set at No. 6 singles to win his match 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. Lafayette received a singles victory from Grayson Zimmerman, who ousted Rock Bridge’s Harry Bozoian 6-2, 2-6, 10-6.

Majors and Winton, and Bozoian and Wasden won in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles in straight sets. Lafayette’s Pete Hasenmueller and Dilan Dupre beat Jones and Swift 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 in No. 1 doubles.

In the afternoon Rock Bridge shut out Parkway Central 9-0.  

Alex Jones came back to beat Jack Bridge at No. 1 singles 5-7, 7-5, 10-7. Swift, Majors, Bozoian, Wasden and Cooper Viles picked up the other singles victories.

Rock Bridge will put its home win streak on the line against Rockhurst at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
