Missouri tennis falls 4-1 to No. 23 Auburn

ST LOUIS — No. 23 Auburn defeated Missouri 4-1 in a tennis match Sunday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. 

Freshman Madison Rhyner beat Plamena Kurteva at No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-4 to record the only point for Missouri. 

Auburn (16-6, 6-5 SEC) earned the doubles point to start the day. Jackie Kasler and Emily Flickinger defeated Maria Christensen and Rachel Stuhlmann 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Jen Pfeifler and Paulina Schippers beat Elisha Gabb and Rhyner 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. 

Auburn won matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles in straight sets with victories from Pleun Burgmans over Cierra Gaytan-Leach, Flickinger over Stuhlmann and Kasler over Alex Clark. 

Missouri (9-10, 2-9 SEC) is back in action next weekend with road matches at Ole Miss on Friday and at Mississippi State on Sunday.
