Rock Bridge girls soccer team loses third straight game

Tuesday, April 9, 2013 | 10:17 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge girls soccer team lost its third consecutive match Tuesday night, falling 1-0 to visiting Jefferson City.

A Jays goal in the 31st minute was enough, as the Bruins were shutout for the second time this season.

Senior captain Aubrie Cornell started in net for the Bruins. Coach Jack Rubenstein said there is an open competition between Cornell and junior Madison Boyken to be the team's top goalkeeper.

Junior Bree Dobbins suffered an injury in the 70th minute. In a scrum for the ball, Dobbins' leg bent under her opponent upon colliding with a Jefferson City player.

Rock Bridge will look to snap its three-game losing streak Wednesday evening against crosstown rival Hickman.
