Barbara Barton Toalson, March 2, 1933 - April 10, 2013, of Columbia

Barbara Barton Toalson, 80, of Columbia, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 following a short illness.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carol McEntyre officiating.

Barbara was born March 2, 1933 in Columbia to Herman and Elma Barton. On August 9, 1952, she married David Kent Toalson and he preceded her in death in 1984. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Boone Chapter No. 290 Order of the Eastern Star, Columbian Chapter DAR, and Altrusa International. She was a music teacher with Columbia Public Schools and, after moving back from New York City where she lived with her husband for eight years, she was the secretary at Nora Stewart Nursery School until her retirement. She loved living at the Terrace for the past four years.

Survivors include a sister, Phyllis Barton Wulff (Harry), of Columbia; three children, Deborah Jacobs (Anne Bills) of Columbia, Susan Hayden (Richard) of Illinois, and Ashley Stephens of California; six grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church of Columbia, MO in her memory. Condolences may be offered at
