Post office to close at normal time on tax day

Monday, April 15, 2013 | 3:47 p.m. CDT; updated 9:02 p.m. CDT, Monday, April 15, 2013

COLUMBIA—Filing taxes at the last minute means making it to the post office by the time it closes.

Today, the downtown location of the United States Post Office will close at 7 p.m. — normal hours.

Residents who plan on mailing their tax returns instead of filing electronically will have to get to the post office by close for returns to be postmarked April 15. If it is dropped off after hours, it will be postmarked for tomorrow.

The post office is normally open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
