KANSAS CITY — Robert Wood Wilson, publisher of The Milan Standard and a past president of the Missouri Press Association, has died. He was 78.

Terri Ruschmeier, with the Milan funeral home handling arrangements, said Wilson died Sunday at a Kansas City hospital where he had gone for tests.

Wilson graduated from MU in 1959 and five years later became partner, editor and publisher of The Milan Standard. He later became publisher of the Green City Press and Linn Co. Leader and co-publisher of the Marceline Press.

Wilson served on the board of Missouri Press Association for about 20 years and as its president in 1999. He was named to the Missouri Press Association Hall of Fame in 2010.

Services are scheduled Friday in Milan, located in north-central Missouri.
