Rock Bridge boys golf places fourth in Camdenton tournament

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 | 10:23 p.m. CDT

Jack Knoesel placed in the top five, Jackson Dubinski shot an 81, and the Rock Bridge boys golf team earned fourth overall in the 27-team Laker Invitational at Old Kinderhook Golf Resort in Camdenton.

Avoiding the storms that swept across mid-Missouri on Wednesday, the Bruins, led by Knoesel's 75, shot a combined 316 for the day. Timberland (Wentzville) High School shot 307 for the tournament championship.

"We had been hearing reports down there that there was going to be some pretty heavy-duty (weather)," Rock Bridge coach Doug Daniels said. "We were shocked we didn't get hammered by rain. It was a beautiful day."

Daniels said his players had to battle against tough breezes throughout the tournament, which started early Wednesday afternoon, but that conditions were fine at Old Kinderhook. He also said his team loved playing at the "beautiful" Lake of the Ozarks course.

The Bruins next play Monday at Jefferson City Country Club in the Capitol City Invitational.
