COLUMBIA — Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested a man Sunday night for swinging a machete in a threatening manner in the 1600 block of Old Plank Road.

The man ran before deputies arrived at about 9 p.m. A K-9 unit found him about an hour later in a wooded area behind the residence.

In addition to swinging the machete, the man was also verbally abusing and pushed a family member to the ground. No one was injured, but victims reported feeling threatened.

Dylan Lee Jones, 34, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree domestic assault.

Jones was being held at Boone County Jail on $19,000 bond.
